Acupuncture / Dry Needling

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture was originally developed in ancient China and introduced into Europe in the 17th Century. Treatment entails insertion of very fine needles into specific trigger points in the skin, which are then stimulated, usually by rotation. It is through this stimulation that endorphins are released, which act as the body’s own form of morphine and this is an excellent painkiller. It is also used for stimulating energy, thus helping to regulate the systems of the body and to reduce inflammation.

What is dry needling?

The points used are similar to, or the same in many cases as acupuncture points. However the points used are generally related to joint and muscle conditions and not necessarily to the acupuncture meridians. It is also possible for a combination of both treatments to be used.

Is it safe?

All our practitioners have specialised after extensive training in the use of acupuncture treatment.
All the needles used are sterile, and once used are disposed of safely.

Is it Painful?

Not as much as you think! You may feel some warmth around the needle but rarely any pain from the needle.
